when i ran from feelings that were starting to come up, i allowed them to build up and become more potent until they burst out and spilled all over me and everybody around me.

I have a niece who describes herself as Bi Polar and is constantly popping pills and going from medication to medication because it only works for so long........

Do I dare show her this article? Shes been raised as a JW and has been DFS several times for different things. Shes been stiffled all her life by this book publishing co disguised as a religion. She refuses to go to the meetings but loves her family who are devout JWs.......I feel so bad for her ...and helpless too.

My story - witchywoman

it has been many years since i was dsfsd, i have written this to my sister in hopes that she could understand some of the reasons that the relationship between my daughter and myself have been strained for so many years.

i thought that by posting this it might help someone else that might be going through some of the same things.. here is my story.hello, as i stated in my other e-mail i will dedicate this entirely to trying to explain my situation with my daughter.

i hope you don`t mind if it gets lengthy.as you probably already know i chose to be a jehovahs witness, and was one for more than 16 years.

I thought I would bring this thread up again so I could let you know what ultimately happened.....

Well, Bob the JW eventually came around to see my husband again and my husband gave him copies of the comments you guys made after extracting a promise from him that he would read them. I inserted some of my own comments too! And low and behold.....we haven't seen him since......Gosh, was it something I said?

women, god and religion

i'm close to leaving this place, but before i go, i've been meaning to post this politically incorrect viewpoint.

it's an extension of a conversation i had with my mother in law not long ago, a conversation which was itself an extension of several extensions of thought that i've had over the years about a number of things.. simply put, there are two kinds of people in our world.

those that believe the bible and those that don't.

I would hate to see you leave as you are one of my favorite people. I don't come to the board much. I try to keep it down to once a week. It's mighty addicting ya know. I did happen to do a little lurking today and decided to comment on your thread.

You say its for Bible believers.......I wish I could say I am...but I can't.

The Bible is inspired?....and how do we know?....well gosh girl..."the Bible tells us so".

The Bible was written by humans trying to find answers to their questions....like...where did we come from? Why is there suffering in the world? and so on....

The Bible is a book written by "middle eastern men" (that should give us a clue) and reflects the prejudices of the time in witch it was written. Those same prejudices still exist in their culture today. The religious fundamentalists have seemed to have taken it to a new level however. The WTS is not far behind.

I, as a woman, only want one thing......not to be looked upon as something of lesser value. I just want to be appreciated for my own talents and don't give a rodents behind what the Bible says. I don't want to be a compliment to anyone...I want to be a full partner and will settle for nothing less.

As always...interesting stuff here.

no, that's not what i think, but it is what the watchtower teaches!

see page 27 of the july 15 issue, where it states: a christian sister may on occasion be accompanied on a bible study by an unbaptized male kingdom publisher.

if she wishes, she may ask him to conduct the study.

I've never worn head coverings well. I look especially lousy with a napkin on my noggin. They can take their head coverings (went out of style 2000 years ago) and put um where the sun don't shine!...(inserting a little humor here).

i was just sitting here, reflecting on my day.

the last month has basically been pretty crappy for me and a rollercoaster of emotions.

i knew i was in bad shape when my landlord told me i could have absolutely no pets in my apartment.

Although I have connected with my older sister I still have many members of my family that I know I will most likely never see again. But....one is better than none.

Hi back Danny....I'm sad for you that you haven't seen your sisters in so long....but I'm also glad you got to see your daughter.
The GB can never change their policies on disfellowshipping and the subsequent shunning. They would then expose themselves for the Asses that we all know they truly are.
I hope you will continue to see your kid. Good luck.

Since this thread was brought up again I thought those who have posted to it might be interested in how our second get together went yesterday.
My younger sister picked me up at 7:30AM and we headed out to our big (JW) sister's house. She lives 50 miles away so it took us about an hour to get there. When we arrived we were welcomed like celebritys. A lovely buffet breakfast was waiting for us along with gifts. after breakfast we had a show and tell with some of the quilt projects (finished and unfinished) that was a great success. I brought the first quilt I had ever made to show my JW sis that you have to start somewhere and this is where I started.
We all got into the car and headed toward the fabric wherehouse where my younger sister and I like to shop for some some of our fabrics that we quilt with. We have decided to each make a quilt to commemorate our reunion. We are calling them the "sister's reunion quilts" They will be made in the same pattern only the fabrics will be selected to our own tastes. My younger sister and I were to help our JW sis pick out the fabrics and supplies she would need.
We arrived at the fabris store at 11:00Am and when we walked out the door it was 4:15PM. My younger sister and I worked like crazy, putting colors and patterns (in the fabrics) together. This store is as big as a supermarket....so we were exhausted after it was all over.
I'm still exhausted today...I was a grouch at work today too.
We stopped to eat on the way home and my JW sis picked up the tab.

We are already planning another get together. My younger sister and I are going to have a quilting class at her house and my JW sis will be the student. I will bring my machine and my little sis will let Jw sis use hers and she will start teaching hands on. I will help by sewing along with her so she can see what she wants to achieve. We will do this before the end of July.

We talked about a lot of things yesterday. Not much has been said about us not seeing each other for 20 years. But then, what can you say? That time can never be regained. I grieve for that time lost. But at least the terrible anger is mostly gone. My JW sis is trying so hard. I get the feeling she has no bossum buddys. I guess JWs can never really have a TRUE friend. Someone you can say and tell anything to. Perhaps my younger sister and I can fill just a little of that need for her.
As Andee said, It is truely a miracle.

eyegirl: How wonderful that you have reconnected with your sister. You have your own little miracle going too. Next time you see your sister give her a hug and tell her its from me. I am so happy for you
two!

I'm so glad this thread has touched so many people and I'm amazed that it has been read so many times. Thank you to all who have posted to it. There are so many wonderful people at this forum.
